Care Of Our Horses

Here at Wood-Marsh the welfare of our horses is our number 1 priority!
And To keep them in good condition they're are something's we need to do everyday!

Feeding & Nutrition,
We make sure all of our horses get the correct food! Each week we analyse how the horses have been and make any changes to the feed according to the horse! They all get the same amount of hay, And they're food is mixtures of meadow herb, chaff, horse & pony cubes, and some agility/performance hard feeds! They also get small amounts of supplements to help joints and respiration! They get morning feed and evening feed, some horses also get lunch feeds! They also get three lots of hay! They also gets plenty of succulents per day like carrots and apples, and they always have plenty of water!

Pasture Time!
We always make sure or horses get at least three hours in the pasture! This way the can graze, eat hay, drink, socialize with the other horses, play and relieve stress! it also gives them a chance for fresh air! Even if the horse is on box rest, lead them outside just to graze and have fresh air!

Mucking Out,
Making sure your horse has clean bedding is essential! otherwise they could catch infections and become sick! Horse manure can harvest bot flies and tape worms, So always make sure you muck out whenever you need to, plus always poo pick fields!

Grooming,
Grooming isn't just a way of making your horse shiny, its also essential! This way you get rid of any dirt, that can lead to infection, you can examine for any cuts or bruises, You untangle your horses coat, if you don't untangle it could lead to sweet itching, And it brings you closer to your horse, and gives you time to bond(:

Hoof-Picking,
This is also very vital, it removes any stones and dirt lodged into your horses hoof!
If you don't do this they could get stuck, and pushed in, it will make your horse very uncomfortable and lead to lameness and lamnitis!

Love and attention!
Always make your horse feel loved, this way he feels like part of the family, and you build a stronger bond!

Join Up,
You don't have to do this but we find this makes the horse accept you as a leader, he gets exercise and feels loved,

Exercise,
Yes this includes all riding! Exercise keeps the horse healthy and fit!
Without it your horse would become overweight,
We always exercise all of our horses equally!
And its not just riding, its join up, free jumping and lunging, like in the picture!

Reward,
Last but certainly not least, always reward your horse,
If you don't praise your horse they wont adapt to what you want them to do!
Just a simple carrot or apple will do! And maybe some horse granola(:

If you follow all of these your horse will be healthy, happy and loved!
